The method we use depends on the type and extent of the damage. Some pieces may require full refinishing, while others can be restored with more targeted repairs. Whenever possible, we focus on restoring only the affected area. For example, if a tabletop has a heat mark, we can often match the finish to the base, allowing us to restore just the top panel.

If partial restoration isn’t feasible, we’ll recommend refinishing the entire piece. In every case, we provide clear, expert advice upon inspection, so you’ll know exactly what to expect before any work begins.

Which Polish is right for my furniture?

French polishing is a wood finishing technique that creates a high gloss surface with a deep, reflective color. It is softer than modern polishes and particularly sensitive to spills of water or alcohol, which can cause white cloudy marks. Our service can restore the finish, seamlessly blending the polish on the damaged areas with the rest of the piece.

In addition to offering high-quality French polishing services for homeowners and business customers, Barrdale French Polishers proudly provides a FREE collection and delivery service for all orders over £75.00. Our team covers most of the UK weekly, collecting and delivering furniture from your home, office, or clients.

To benefit our clients, we use a long wheelbase or Luton van, allowing us to transport large and bulky furniture items. You can always rely on our friendly team to load and unload your furniture into the room of your choice at no extra cost.
My Dining tabletop is damaged can you match the old finish? 

Yes! Our skilled craftsmen and craftswomen are experts in matching colours and finishes, trim, molding, and more.
How do we restore furniture?

We first consider partial restoration. Depending on the extent of the damage, the damaged furniture may either be repaired and refinished or we will completely strip by hand the old finish off and totally re-polish the damaged area. All areas will be refinished to match the damaged area.
Why is better to repair than replace?

It doesn’t make financial sense to replace quality furniture that can be restored. Use this example: If your car’s bumber has a dent, you don’t replace the whole car. You replace the bumber  and a little painting. Similarly, you don’t replace a restorable piece of furniture.
